Rower Notification - Mogden

Rower notification from Thames Water: Mogden Sewage Treatment Works (STW)

Within the next hour, Mogden Sewage Treatment Works will be discharging heavily diluted storm water into the River Thames.

Storm water is screened, settled in tanks and mixed with fully treated wastewater before it reaches the river.

Work has been carried out at Mogden to increase the treatment capacity during and after heavy rain in our catchment. Regrettably, there are still times that this capacity is exceeded, and with nowhere else for the excess storm sewage to go, these discharges to the river are legal and consented.

Rower Notification - Hammersmith

Rower notification from Thames Water:  Hammersmith Pumping Station (PS)

Following the recent rainfall, Hammersmith Pumping Station has in the last hour discharged untreated sewage into the River Thames, due to lack of capacity in the existing sewer network.

Tideway, a new independent company, has started construction work on the Thames Tideway Tunnel – also known as the ‘super sewer’ -  to address the unacceptable volume and frequency of discharges at this and 33 other locations.

Main tunnelling work is due to start next year with the project due to complete by early 2024.
